Lund Univeristy, Malmo Art Academy: Master’s Program in Fine Art

Swedish Degree: Kornstnarlig magisterexamen I fri konst

Degree Name in English: Master in Fine Arts in Visual Arts

80 Credits (120 ECTS)

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The program is intended both for students with a scientific or technical background who would like to explore artistic expression and get an in-depth knowledge of computer graphics and sound technologies, and for artists from different genres who want to learn how to use the computer as the powerful tool that it is.

An introductory semester adapts courses to the individual background of the student, with basic mathematics and programming for artists or an introduction to artistic expression for students of science and technology. Theory courses are combined with projects and workshops where students with different backgrounds collaborate. Public exhibitions and performances form an important part of the program. Most courses are focused on sophisticated uses of technology that is readily available to students after they graduate, but more advanced technology (e.g. virtual reality equipment) is also available for special projects. The program is full time and runs for over two years.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

At least three years of university education and a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field in science and technology, or have an education in an artistic field at a corresponding level. Equivalent documented experience will be considered.
